LG SOLAR POWERED BLUETOOTH HANDSFREE KIT
We all know the authorities are obsessed with Health and Safety these days, but whatever your stance on the matter the fact is that if you're caught using your mobile phone whilst driving - even if you're stationary - you will be fined at least £60 and get three points on your driving licence. It could be much worse of course, so why take the chance?
A lot of people are put off by having to continually recharge the batteries on devices like this, or having wires trailing all over their dashboard, but this superb device from LG means that you will never need to worry about that again.
This superb device is powered by a solar panel on one side, which when fully charged gives an astonishing 1100 hours standby time coupled with an impressive 16 hours talktime. Total charge time via solar power is 33 hours, but you can boost this to just two hours charge time by using the enclosed charging cable which connects to your vehicle's 12v power ('cigarette lighter') socket. But LG claim that 2 hours solar charge will give you up to an hours talktime. This doesn't sound like a lot but remember it's continuously charging as long as it's on your screen - even on cloudy days. I've used one for around 5 weeks and the charger hasn't left the box. Of course this makes it environmentally friendly too if that floats your boat.
Measuring just 94 x 50 x 14 - roughly the size of a packet of cigarettes but slimmer - and supplied complete with suction-pad fitting windscreen cradle, which is in clear plastic so not that easy to spot at a glance, but it can be quickly and easily removed if you prefer. A one-touch button controls most aspects, including call answer, voice dial activation (must be supported on your handset) and last number redial, whilst the side-mounted volume control can also be used as a mute button.
Better still, the device can be paired with up to two phones, so can be used to control both driver and passenger's handsfree calls. It will work with any bluetooth handset, not just LG, so you can use it with your Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, Sagem, Motorola, Blackberry or in fact any other brand of mobile phone but LG handset owners have the added bonus of being able to charge their phone through the device with the included cable.
