Have you noticed lately that the world and his dog would like you to buy a touchscreen smartphone? Thankfully Sony Ericsson have realised that many of us would like top end features without having to compromise on a form factor that we have all become used to. Enter the Sony Ericsson Zylo.

This is a fully featured Walkman slider handset, with all the superb Walkman music player features that we've come to expect from Sony Ericsson, now including FLAC lossless audio support, FM stereo radio with RDS, stereo Bluetooth, dedicated music controls directly accessible from the front of the handset, and the brilliant new Sony Ericsson Xross media browser which makes it very easy to access any of your media on handset. Most important is the fact that you get over 26 hours of music playback from one charge.

At 260 MB you get a generous amount of pre-installed memory but this expandable up to 16 GB using the MicroSD card, the popular format which Sony Ericsson now use on all their new handsets. A 3.2 megapixel camera is also featured on the Zylo, along with a video camera which records at a very respectable 30 frames per second. There is also direct access to YouTube. This is a 3G handset so Internet access at broadband speeds using HSDPA, and this also means that the phone can easily be used worldwide with any sim card. 3G is particularly handy for social networking and there is built-in direct access for your favourite sites including Facebook and Twitter as well as blogger and you can also upload your photos directly to Picasa. You do of course get e-mail as well as SMS and MMS messaging. Because this is a slider phone you get a good-sized easy-to-use keypad which is ideal for messaging applications.
